Color balancing with Ottocolor is simple and effective! Here’s a step-by-step guide to achieve stunning color accuracy:
1. “Import your media”: Start by importing your footage into your preferred editing software.

2. “Keyframe at Ottocolor timestamp”: Locate the timestamp when the Ottocolor tool was captured in your footage and create a keyframe and zoom in to fill the screen with Ottocolor.
3. “Mask exposure and white balance area”: Begin by masking the exposure and white balance area in your footage.

4. “Adjust exposure”: Adjust the exposure settings until the waveform luma barely touches the bottom and top lines, with the middle lines at 33 and 55, if more detail needed the top left square left to red should be at 15 or less.

5. “White balance”: Use the RGB parade waveform to white balance. Ensure that the red, blue, and green lines match as closely as possible at every level using color wheels or your preferred method.

6. “Create a new mask for colors”: Disable the previous mask and create a new one covering only the colors. Use the waveform to guide you.

7. “Hue vs. Hue adjustment”: Use the hue vs. hue color adjustment to isolate and adjust each color individually, starting with red and ending with skin tone. Look for patterns in the waveform to guide your adjustments.

You can see each color represented on each column of the RGB OVERLAY WAVEFORM. With the HUE vs HUE color adjustment, select each of the 6 main color and adjust each hue to move the waveform according to this examples below.

8. “Saturation adjustment”: Finally, adjust the saturation of each color
according to the following values:
red – 32,

yellow – 14,

green – 25,

cyan – 19, blue – 19,

magenta – 15,

and skin tone – 32.

And that’s it.
